Getting started
Install Paranormal Investigation Toolkit from its Google Play listing. The app is offline-first: its core features work without a connection. It supports Android 10 and newer.
- SLS camera with skeletal-tracking visualisation and camera filters
- EMF meter driven by the device magnetometer, with calibration
- EVP recorder with playback, review and FFT frequency analysis
- ESP sensor module reading motion and environmental change
Permissions
Paranormal Toolkit asks only for what its features need, and works sensibly if you decline. To review or change grants: Android Settings → Apps → Paranormal Toolkit → Permissions.
- Camera: Drives the SLS camera view and its filters. Frames are processed on the device and never uploaded.
- Microphone: Powers the EVP recorder, radio box and frequency scanner. Audio is analysed on the device; recordings are saved only when you record.
- Location: Optionally tags an investigation session with where it took place so your archive makes sense later. Locations stay on the device.
- Notifications: Session reminders and alerts while an investigation is running.
- Foreground service: Keeps a running investigation session recording reliably while the screen is off.
- Internet: Declared for outbound links such as the Google Play listing. No investigation data is transmitted.
Common problems
The app is misbehaving or running slowly
- Swipe the app away from Recents and reopen it.
- Check Google Play for an update.
- Clear the app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → Paranormal Toolkit → Storage → Clear cache) — this keeps your data.
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?
Sessions and recordings stay on your device until you delete them. Delete individual sessions or recordings in the app, or clear the app's storage in Android settings to remove everything. Full details are on the Paranormal Toolkit privacy page.
Does it really work offline?
Yes — the core of Paranormal Toolkit is built to work with no signal at all. Anything that does use the network is listed on the privacy page, and none of it is required for everyday use.
Battery and performance tips
Paranormal Toolkitavoids background work beyond what its features need. If Android's battery optimisation interferes with reminders or timers, exempt the app in Android Settings → Battery → Battery optimisation.
