Tideline
In Development
Tideline is currently in development and not yet available on Google Play. Support opens fully at release — but feedback and questions are welcome now.
Getting started
Tideline will be installable from Google Play at release; a store button will appear on its page here the moment the listing is real. The app is offline-first: its core features work without a connection. It supports Android 8.0 and newer.
- First-person casting, striking and reeling with real-time line physics
- Live water: splash, ripples and a readable float
- Deterministic background fishing with bite notifications
- Weather and time-of-day variation over Millstone Lake
Permissions
Tideline asks only for what its features need, and works sensibly if you decline. To review or change grants: Android Settings → Apps → Tideline → Permissions.
- Notifications: Tells you when a fish bites while the app is in the background.
- Run at startup: Restores background fishing timers after the phone restarts.
Common problems
The app is misbehaving or running slowly
- Swipe the app away from Recents and reopen it.
- Check Google Play for an update.
- Clear the app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → Tideline → Storage → Clear cache) — this keeps your data.
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?
Progress stays on your device until you delete it. Clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app, to remove all progress. Full details are on the Tideline privacy page.
Does it really work offline?
Yes — the core of Tideline is built to work with no signal at all. Anything that does use the network is listed on the privacy page, and none of it is required for everyday use.
Battery and performance tips
Tidelineavoids background work beyond what its features need. If Android's battery optimisation interferes with reminders or timers, exempt the app in Android Settings → Battery → Battery optimisation.
Accessibility
- Playable without sound — every bite has a visual cue
- No forced time limits on striking or reeling
Accessibility problems are treated as bugs — reports are very welcome.
