Support
Animal Vision
Beta
Animal Vision is currently beta and not yet available on Google Play. Support opens fully at release — but feedback and questions are welcome now.
Getting started
Animal Vision will be installable from Google Play at release; a store button will appear on its page here the moment the listing is real. The app is offline-first: its core features work without a connection. It supports Android 10 and newer.
- 24 implemented live camera filters, from dog to mantis shrimp
- Swipe carousel with per-animal taglines and science notes
- Photo capture and sharing, processed on the device
- Learn library: filter explainers, glossary, evolution timelines and brain-interpretation notes
Permissions
Animal Vision asks only for what its features need, and works sensibly if you decline. To review or change grants: Android Settings → Apps → Animal Vision → Permissions.
- Camera: Shows the live animal-vision view. Frames are processed on the device.
- Microphone: Declared in the current development build for recording video clips with sound. Only used while you record.
Common problems
The app is misbehaving or running slowly
- Swipe the app away from Recents and reopen it.
- Check Google Play for an update.
- Clear the app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → Animal Vision → Storage → Clear cache) — this keeps your data.
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?
Saved media stays on your device until you delete it. Preferences persist until you clear the app's data. Delete saved media from your gallery, or clear the app's storage in Android settings to remove everything. Full details are on the Animal Vision privacy page.
Does it really work offline?
Yes — the core of Animal Vision is built to work with no signal at all. Anything that does use the network is listed on the privacy page, and none of it is required for everyday use.
Battery and performance tips
Animal Visionavoids background work beyond what its features need. If Android's battery optimisation interferes with reminders or timers, exempt the app in Android Settings → Battery → Battery optimisation.
Accessibility
- All vision modes labelled for screen readers
- Full functionality without sound
Accessibility problems are treated as bugs — reports are very welcome.
