DuelSync

Beta

DuelSync is currently beta and not yet available on Google Play. Support opens fully at release — but feedback and questions are welcome now.

Camera, motion, microphone and two-phone gameplay exist at the infrastructure level and are excluded from verified ranked play until physical-device testing completes.

Getting started

DuelSync will be installable from Google Play at release; a store button will appear on its page here the moment the listing is real. The app is offline-first: its core features work without a connection.

  • 60 data-driven challenges across seven duel types
  • Pass-and-play on one phone or point-to-point on two
  • Versioned match protocol with an impartial referee
  • On-device ML Kit face challenges — nothing uploaded

Permissions

DuelSync asks only for what its features need, and works sensibly if you decline. To review or change grants: Android Settings → Apps → DuelSync → Permissions.

  • Bluetooth and Nearby devices: Links two phones directly for head-to-head matches. No internet involved.
  • Location: Required by Android for Bluetooth scanning on older versions. DuelSync does not track where you are.
  • Camera: Powers face-analysis party challenges. Processing is on-device via ML Kit.
  • Microphone: Powers sound-based challenges. Audio is analysed on the device.
  • Vibration: Haptic feedback during duels.

Common problems

The app is misbehaving or running slowly
  • Swipe the app away from Recents and reopen it.
  • Check Google Play for an update.
  • Clear the app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → DuelSync → Storage → Clear cache) — this keeps your data.
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?

Profiles and history stay on the device until you delete them. Delete profiles in the app, or clear the app's storage in Android settings to remove everything. Full details are on the DuelSync privacy page.

Does it really work offline?

Yes — the core of DuelSync is built to work with no signal at all. Anything that does use the network is listed on the privacy page, and none of it is required for everyday use.

Battery and performance tips

DuelSyncavoids background work beyond what its features need. If Android's battery optimisation interferes with reminders or timers, exempt the app in Android Settings → Battery → Battery optimisation.

Accessibility

  • Capability-aware library hides challenges a device cannot run fairly
  • Challenge rules readable before every round

Accessibility problems are treated as bugs — reports are very welcome.
