Privacy Policy

Pocket Control

Everything stays on the phone. There is no account, cloud service or analytics, and sensitive saved items are excluded from device backups.

Development status: Pocket Control is still in development and is not yet available on Google Play. This page describes, from the current source code, how the app is being designed to behave. It will be finalised as the formal privacy policy before any release, and updated if behaviour changes.

Information the App Accesses

  • Sensor readings while a tool is open
  • Camera and microphone while their tools are open

  • Dashboard pages and widget layout
  • Saved tags, devices and infrared profiles
  • Preferences

Information Transmitted Off the Device

Nothing. Pocket Control has no mechanism for uploading your data.

Sharing and Third-Party Services

No data is shared with third parties. The app contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.

Permissions

Every permission Pocket Control requests, and the reason it exists:

Camera

QR and barcode reading, the magnifier and colour sampling — requested only when one of those tools is opened.

Microphone

The sound level meter and audio tools, while they are open.

Location

Required by Android for some Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scanning on older versions; there is no background location.

Nearby devices (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi)

Bluetooth Low Energy discovery and Wi-Fi Direct peers, declared as never used for location.

NFC

Reading tags, and writing text to a tag only when you explicitly arm it.

Physical activity

The step counter, where the phone has one.

Infrared transmitter

Sending infrared signals from profiles you enter yourself, on phones with an IR blaster.

Biometrics

Optional lock for saved items.

Internet

Declared because Android's Wi-Fi Direct requires it; the app has no network client, uploads or analytics.

Further Detail

  • Dashboards, layouts and preferences are stored locally with Room and DataStore.
  • Sensitive saved items stay in private app storage and are excluded from cloud and device backup.
  • Camera, microphone and radio sessions start only when you open the tool that uses them.
  • Dashboard export is explicit and leaves out saved tag, device and remote payloads.

Data Retention

Kept on the device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Data Deletion

Delete items in the app, or uninstall to remove everything.

Children and Age Considerations

Pocket Control is a general-audience app. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

The app does not open external websites.

Changes to This Policy

If the app's behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes for a released app will also be reflected in its Google Play listing.
