What Pocket Deity is

Pocket Deity is a small god game about consequences. An island wakes up and gets on with things — farmers tend fields, builders raise homes, neighbours find their way through the day — and you intervene with weather and blessings rather than direct orders. Rain is held over a region; wind is dragged in a direction; other powers are tapped. Underneath is a fixed-step ecology simulation running jobs, needs, bounded navigation, autonomous construction, an economy and mission conditions, so the world keeps its own logic whether or not you interfere. Five compact chapters sit alongside three saved sandbox worlds, and a chronicle records what actually happened. Saves carry a schema version, a SHA-256 checksum and the deterministic random stream, and a corrupt save is never silently treated as valid.

What it does

  • A fixed-step ecology simulation with jobs, needs, navigation, construction and an economy
  • Weather and blessing powers applied by gesture — hold to rain, drag to steer wind
  • Five compact chapters plus three independent sandbox worlds
  • A chronicle that records what actually happened in your world
  • Checksummed atomic saves with a retained backup
  • Offline, with no account, advertising or analytics

You are not in charge, exactly

Villagers already have jobs, needs and opinions about where to walk. You change the conditions they live in rather than issuing orders, and the chronicle afterwards tells you what your weather actually did. Most of the interesting moments are unintended.

What the build contains

Simulation, presentation and persistence are separated deliberately.

Simulation

Fixed-step ecology, jobs, needs, bounded grid navigation, autonomous construction, economy and mission conditions.

World view

Visual reconstruction with shared materials, terrain meshes, stylised buildings and a bounded effects pool.

Persistence

Three sandbox slots plus a mission continuation, saved every 20 seconds and on every lifecycle event.

Audio

Original synthesised music and power sounds — no external audio samples.

Getting Pocket Deity

Pocket Deity is still in development and is not distributed yet. It is roughly 60% of the way to a first public release.

How it is put together

  • A fixed-step ecology simulation drives jobs, needs, navigation, autonomous construction and the economy.
  • Saves carry a schema version, a SHA-256 checksum and the deterministic random stream; a corrupt save is never treated as valid.
  • Writes flush to a pending file and atomically replace the main file while retaining a backup.
  • Three independent sandbox slots sit alongside the mission continuation.
