What Convoy is

Convoy: Chain City is a complete offline arcade driving game. You steer a single leader through neon streets and an industrial port, recruiting stranded vehicles into a chain that trails behind you. A longer convoy earns more and carries more abilities, but it also fills more of the road — and rival convoys will try to cut it. Crashes are designed as comebacks rather than endings: when the chain breaks, you loop back and recover your followers before someone else claims them. Seven offline modes, seven follower classes, nine power-ups and four unlockable leader styles are implemented, along with local daily challenges, achievements and personal records. All art, meshes, interface, music and effects are original procedural content, and the only Android permission the project requests is vibration.

What it does

  • Seven offline modes: Endless City, Biggest Chain, Convoy Battle, Checkpoint Rush, Escape, Delivery and Daily City
  • Seven follower classes with armour, nitro, weapons, magnets, repairs and heavy cargo
  • Recover your scattered followers after a crash instead of simply losing the run
  • Nine power-ups, including compress and spread formations
  • Local daily challenges, achievements and personal records
  • Original procedural art, music and effects throughout
  • No account, advertising or internet connection required

Crashes are the interesting part

Most chain games end your run when the chain breaks. Convoy turns that moment into the decision that matters: your followers scatter across the junction and stay there, recoverable, until a rival convoy sweeps through and takes them. Whether you loop back for them or cut your losses and rebuild is the whole game.

What is actually implemented

The build is feature-complete against its brief. These are shipped systems, not a roadmap.

Seven modes

Endless City, Biggest Chain, Convoy Battle, Checkpoint Rush, Escape, Delivery and a deterministic Daily City.

Follower classes

Armour, nitro, weapons, magnets, repairs and heavy cargo, each changing how the chain behaves.

Abilities

One active ability per run — EMP, shield or repair — recharging on a 22-second cycle.

Progression

Earned credits unlock four leader styles; achievements, records and daily challenges are all local.

Saves that survive a bad day

Progress is versioned, checksummed and backed up under the platform's private data directory. A corrupt primary file is retained rather than silently replaced, and a save written by a newer version of the game is never overwritten by an older one. Automated verification runs against a separate temporary save directory so testing can never touch a real profile.

Getting Convoy

Convoy: Chain City is still in development and is not distributed yet. It is roughly 90% of the way to a first public release.

How it is put together

  • A runtime bootstrap builds the city and interface from `GameRules`, so tuning is content rather than scene editing.
  • Progress is versioned, checksummed and backed up; a corrupt primary save is retained rather than overwritten.
  • Future-version saves are protected from being overwritten by an older build.
  • All art, meshes, UI, music and effects are original procedural content.
