Privacy Policy
KidClear
KidClear's library works offline. Search history is short, non-sensitive and local; custom entries can be encrypted. A family-offline build removes the Internet permission completely.
Information the App Accesses
- Microphone audio during voice search (on-device transcription)
Information Stored on Your Device
- Favourites, short non-sensitive search history and your own added entries
Information Transmitted Off the Device
Nothing. KidClear has no mechanism for uploading your data.
Sharing and Third-Party Services
No data is shared with third parties. The app contains no advertising or tracking SDKs.
Permissions
Every permission KidClear requests, and the reason it exists:
Voice search: speak a word instead of typing it. Transcription happens on the device.
Declared in the standard build. A dedicated family-offline version removes this permission entirely, and the explanation library works offline in every version.
Further Detail
- The explanation library is bundled and works entirely offline.
- Search history is short, stored locally and excludes sensitive searches.
- Custom entries you add can be stored encrypted on the device.
- Safety routing shows UK support resources for immediate-risk searches and protects those screens from screenshots.
- The familyOffline app version removes the Internet permission at the manifest level.
Data Retention
History and favourites stay on the device until you clear them in Settings.
Data Deletion
Clear history and saved items in the app's Settings, or clear the app's storage in Android settings.
Children and Age Considerations
KidClear is designed to be family-friendly. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and contains no advertising.
External Links
Where the app links to external websites or services, those destinations are clearly indicated and governed by their own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
If the app's behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes for a released app will also be reflected in its Google Play listing.
Privacy Enquiries
Questions about this policy can be raised via the contact page or the KidClear support page. The website privacy page covers this website itself — the app and the site are separate software with separate behaviour.
