KidClear
Big words, made clear.

About KidClear
KidClear is a dictionary-style learning app for curious children, teenagers, parents and teachers. Search a word, phrase or difficult idea and open a clear definition, an age-appropriate explanation and a worked example — across five audience levels from ages 5–7 up to plain-language adult. The library ships with reviewed entries across colourful categories, matches misspellings and phrasing gracefully, and refuses to invent answers for unknown words rather than guessing. Five visual modes, read-aloud controls and safety routing for sensitive searches round out a deliberately honest learning tool. It is not a chatbot, and it keeps no conversation log.

"What does inflation mean?" deserves a real answer
Children ask enormous questions in small words. KidClear answers at their level — honestly, safely and without turning the question into a data point.
Honest by design
Every design decision favours trust over engagement metrics.
No invention
Unknown words get a graceful 'not found', never a made-up answer.
Level switching
The same entry explained for five different audiences.
Safety first
Sensitive searches route to real UK support resources.
Actually offline
The library needs no connection; one version has no Internet permission at all.
Development status
KidClear is roughly 65% of the way to its first public release. It will appear on Google Play when it's genuinely ready.
Privacy & practical details
Privacy at a glance
KidClear's library works offline. Search history is short, non-sensitive and local; custom entries can be encrypted. A family-offline build removes the Internet permission completely.
