Progress Universe
In Development
Progress Universe is currently in development and not yet available on Google Play. Support opens fully at release — but feedback and questions are welcome now.
Getting started
Progress Universe will be installable from Google Play at release; a store button will appear on its page here the moment the listing is real. The app is offline-first: its core features work without a connection.
- One universal engine instead of hundreds of fixed widgets
- Time, date, countdown, shift and cooking-timer sources
- Multiple visual styles per widget
- Automatic self-updating without draining battery
Permissions
Progress asks only for what its features need, and works sensibly if you decline. To review or change grants: Android Settings → Apps → Progress → Permissions.
- Notifications: Optional alerts when a tracked progress reaches milestones you set.
- Physical activity (optional): Declared for the step-based progress source. Only used if you create a widget that counts steps.
Common problems
The app is misbehaving or running slowly
- Swipe the app away from Recents and reopen it.
- Check Google Play for an update.
- Clear the app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → Progress → Storage → Clear cache) — this keeps your data.
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?
Configurations stay on the device until you remove the widget or clear app data. Remove widgets from your home screen, or clear the app's storage in Android settings. Full details are on the Progress privacy page.
Does it really work offline?
Yes — the core of Progress is built to work with no signal at all. Anything that does use the network is listed on the privacy page, and none of it is required for everyday use.
Battery and performance tips
Progressavoids background work beyond what its features need. If Android's battery optimisation interferes with reminders or timers, exempt the app in Android Settings → Battery → Battery optimisation.
Accessibility
- Every widget exposes its value as readable text
- Progress never communicated by colour alone
Accessibility problems are treated as bugs — reports are very welcome.
